Housekeeper Arrested For Stealing

SANTA MONICA—A housekeeper was arrested after evidence showed she was connected to a house burglary and theft of property from her employer’s house on Thursday, May 2.
The incident in question happened on Thursday, April 25. The Santa Monica Police Department was called to a residential house burglary at the 900 block of 19th Street.
A housekeeper was arrested for stealing property from the home of their boss.
After officers arrived to the crime scene, the victims informed authorities that they locked up the premises during the morning hours, but after returning at 6 p.m., they noticed the front door was open. Several items in the house were also missing.
Police did not find any point of forced entry and concluded burglars came through the front door without forced opening, possibly by using a key.
CSI processed fingerprints and DNA matched a man who did not have permission to be inside of the residence. The address of this suspect was connected to the address of the victims housekeeper.
Officers visited the housekeeper's residence and took the male suspect into custody. Officers also found some stolen items from victims’ home inside the residence. The housekeeper was also taken into custody.
The male suspect, age 32, was charged with burglary and his bail was set at $50,000. The housekeeper, age 29, was charged with receiving stolen property. Bail was not granted and she was placed on a hold of Immigration and Naturalization Service.
