Posted by Shine Huang on Apr 25, 2013 - 8:18:38 AM

SANTA MONICAResident Ammon Kabatchnik's book “Blood on the Stage 1975-2000” has been named a finalist in 2013 ForeWord Book of the Year Award.

ForeWord Book of the Year Award is an annual national book competition to reward distinguished books from independent publishers. This year the award program has received more than 1300 entries representing over 700 publishers. Winners will be announced at the American Library Association Annual Conference in Chicago, on Friday, June 28.

Kabatchnik’s book, “Blood on the Stage 1975-2000: Milestone Plays of Criem, Mystery, and Detection” continues his previous study “Blood on the Stage 1900-1925”; “Blood on the Stage 1925-1950”; and “Blood on the Stage 1950-1975”. Kabatchnik describes more than 80 full plays produced in the last quarter of the 20th century, with an emphasis on New York and London performances.

“The author correctly describes this work as “a labor of love.” It is also a fascinating document that deserves a place in any library with a sizable collection on theater,” reviewed by American Reference Books Annual.
