SANTA MONICA—Bobby Shriver, the nephew of late President John F. Kennedy, has stated on his website his intention to run for Los Angeles County Supervisor.

He is running against former state legislator Sheila Kuehl, John Duran, and Wendy Creuel all who have shared interest in the position.

Shriver has served on Santa Monica City Council for eight years and plans on running for Supervisor to “continue this work.” As outlined on his website, he comes from a long line of big names and enormous societal contributions. His father, Sargent Shriver, invented the Peace Corps ”“ needless to say Shriver has big shoes to fill and some fierce competition.

Zev Yaroslavsky currently holds the seat of the Third District and will be termed out of office next year.

Despite Shriver’s declaration of his intentions, the Los Angeles County Elections Office has confirmed with Canyon News that during this optional registration period, where candidates can fill out a ”˜signature and lieu’ form to reduce their filling fee by signatures, Shriver has not signed up. The nomination period is expected on February 10.
