SANTA MONICA—The tenth annual Alternative Building Materials & Design Expo (also known as the AltBuild Expo) will celebrate a decade of environmental designs in Southern California with a weekend celebration next month at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
The event was created to help people interested in furnishing and building and has consulted numerous architects, contractors, engineers and exhibitors to provide insight and knowledge to the public.
Over 150 exhibitors will be on display with different features, such as water and energy conservation, plumbing and material manufactures, and will have an “Ask an Expert” section by the American Institute of Architects Los Angeles.
For ten years, the AltBuild Expo has helped the community in going more “green” by providing information on conservation and ways to build a better home for the betterment of the environment, and has opened doors to meet new people of the community and professional consultants within each field.

"AltBuild is an institution in the green building community,” said Eric Corey Freed, author of organicARCHITECT, on the AltBuild Expo website. “I've been coming for years and always discover new ideas, always meet great people, and always leave there excited about the sustainability movement."
This year’s expo will feature over forty different speakers for the two-day span. The list includes local Water Resources Specialist Russell Ackerman, Director of Sustainability Randy Britt, President of the Pacific Cove Development Steve Lappin and much more.
The event will take place Friday, May 10 to Saturday May 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.
