Documentary Screening At Public Library
Posted by Katherine Noland on Nov 16, 2012 - 1:42:32 PM

SANTA MONICA—On Saturday, December 1, the Santa Monica Public Library will be screening “Library of the Early Mind,” a documentary that examines the underlying affect of children’s literature on our culture.

The 2010 film features acclaimed children’s story authors including Chris Van Allsburg (The Polar Express, Jumanji), Lois Lowry (The Giver, Number the Stars), and R.L. Stine (Goosebumps). Directed by Edward J. Delaney, “Library of the Early Mind” explores the depth of how these childhood stories have shaped us. From the origin of their impact on us as young readers, to where they have brought us as adults, the film implicates how truly deep childhood stories and literature run in our culture. According to IMDB, “The film examines the more serious artistry and the darker side of creativity that go into these childhood tales.”
