Martinez will discuss his autobiography, "Full of Heart," along with entertainment journalist Mekeisha Madden Toby. After the event, participants will be able to buy the book and have it signed by Martinez.

In 2003, Martinez sustained burns to over 34 percent of his body during his time in the army as an infantryman in Iraq. He spent 34 months at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas and has undergone 33 cosmetic and skin graft surgeries. Since his recovery, Martinez became a motivational speaker, starred in shows such as "All My Children" and won "Dancing With the Stars" in 2011.

The special event presentation of Santa Monica reads is part of a community reading program in its eleventh year meant to motivate locals to read and discuss the same novel.

Tickets are free and will be released one hour before the program in the Main Library lobby. Guests are allowed one ticket and must be present to receive it. The seating for the event is first come, first served. The event is open to all ages.
