SANTA MONICA—The Santa Monica Public Library will hold a special piano recital for local musician Lana Chae on Saturday, April 6.
Chae will perform classic melodies from famous composers such as Franz Schubert, Maurice Ravel and Beethoven. She will also hold a special lecture following the recital about the importance of her inspiration pieces and Beethoven’s work.
Chae is an accomplished musician with a Bachelors of Music degree and Master of Music honors from UCLA and studied alongside Dr. Walter Ponce, the international acclaimed pianist who has headlined concert halls all over the world and collaborated with the Cleveland, Audubon, American and Lenox Quartets.
Currently, Chae is a teaching assistant at UCLA’s undergraduate music program and teaches piano around the Los Angeles area through the university’s Music Partnership Program.
Chae performed previously in the same location two years ago, in July 2011 and performed solo pieces by Sergei Prokofiev, Franz Liszt, Steve Reich and Beethoven. This time around, Chae will perform new pieces by other composers, but keep the classic Beethoven on her setlist.
The concert will be free and open to all residents of all age groups. Seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis with limited seating. The event will take place at 2:30 p.m. in the Main Library’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, located at 601 Santa Monica Blvd, Santa Monica.
