The alleged incident occurred on August 13, when the alleged victim and his girlfriend reportedly left a restaurant on the 300 block of Santa Monica Blvd.

The couple walked towards Fourth
Street and Santa Monica Blvd. where they encountered the unidentified man, who repeatedly stabbed the victim without apparent provocation.

The victim attempted to escape but was stabbed multiple times before he collapsed to the ground; the suspect reportedly ran southbound on Fourth
Street towards Broadway and escaped.

Video surveillance captured the individual fleeing southbound through the Santa Monica Place Mall, from the entrance located at Third
and Broadway.

Santa Monica Fire Department medical staff treated the teen, who was taken to a local trauma center to be treated for injuries not considered life-threatening.

The suspect is believed to be a Hispanic or dark-complected white male in his mid-30s; about 5'8'' in height; 180 lbs.; unshaven; wearing a  dark painter's-styled cap; a dark T-shirt; dark shorts; and dirty white shoes.

Police ask anyone with additional information on this incident to call Detective Chad Goodwin at 310-458-8942, or Sergeant Ira Rutan at 310-458-8959 or the S.M.P.D.'s 24-hr. line at 310-458-8495.
