SANTA MONICA—A fire over the weekend of February 19, demolished a popular Santa Monica eatery. Santino's Place Restaurant, also referred to as Santino's Tapas & Grill and Santino's Tapas & Beer, was engulfed in flames on February 19 along with other units in the building located at 3021 Lincoln Blvd. The fire started, and was quickly knocked down by Santa Monica firefighters between 1- 2 a.m.
Santino's Restaurant is described as an Argentinean interest restaurant, which specialized in the trendy serving of tapas, and opened three years ago. The restaurant was opened by Sergio Amata, and named after his son Santino. Santino's advertised a variety of international cuisines, including Italian and Brazilian food. The restaurant also advertised various "culinary events," different forms of live entertainment and ample space for parties and entertaining.
Fans of the restaurant and lounge appeared to be fond of the atmosphere, the meals, the tapas snacks, the beer and the live music and entertainment. A sister restaurant is located in Hollywood.
At this time, the exact cause of the fire is still unknown.
