There are 871 public schools in California being named in 2012 Honor Roll Star School by the California Business for Education Excellence. Edison Language Academy for the third year has appeared in this honor roll. The school is a dual immersion elementary school, where all the students learn to speak, read and write in both English and Spanish.
Edison is a school of choice for all students and enrolls students from other Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District neighborhoods. They are trying the best to build the environment of balance of bi-language for their students, which has made improvements for language in education.
Graduates of Edison, which has been an immersion school for 26 years, move on to John Adams Middle School and then to Santa Monica High School, where they can continue to take both Spanish and one or two other courses in Spanish through twelfth grade.
