The backpacks and supplies will be provided to 60 students at Olympic High School, Off Campus Learning Center and the Independent Study Program who may not have otherwise been able to afford these items. Jersey Mike’s Subs and Fresh Brothers Pizza will provide food for the reception part of the event, which will be at 5 p.m. in the courtyard at 1447 Lincoln Boulevard.

Last year, the event was a huge success and included contributions from NMS’ business partners, NMS Apartment renters and the community. Backpacks and supplies were provided to 100 students and Santa Monica Mayor Richard Bloom and other Santa Monica City Council members attended the event. Key city officials are expected to be in attendance for this year’s event as well.

NMS is still accepting donations to be distributed at the event. The donation list includes the following items:

· College-ruled paper

· Copy paper

· Three-ring folders

· Tabbed dividers

· Erasers

· Calculators

· #2 pencils

· Blue, black and red pens

· Hand-wipes

· Tissues

· Paper clips

· Staples

· No-perishables (non-peanut)

Donations can be dropped off at the following locations in Santa Monica: the Leasing Gallery at 420 Santa Monica Boulevard or the Limited Gallery at 829 Broadway Street.
