SANTA MONICAOn Saturday, November 19, celebrities including former "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen and "Days of our Lives" alumna Deidre Hall played in a local charity poker tournament to benefit Santa Monica High School baseball.

Sheen, a former SAMOHI Vikings pitcher and shortstop, Sheen's best friend Tony Todd, and Kenny Lofton,
a former Major League Baseball player, were at the Moose Lodge on Ocean Park Boulevard to lend their famous names to the cause. Hall was there signing copies of her book, "How Does She Do it? A Beauty Book." It cost $85 per person to be dealt into the eleemosynary game or $50 just to be in the presence of these celebrities while enjoying a dinner, poker lessons, prizes and more.

The Santa Monica Diamond Club, a sponsor of the SAMOHI baseball team and organizer of the event, aims to raise enough funds during the baseball preseason to buy bats, balls, catcher's gear, batting cage lights and other sports equipment. According to the club's website, Sheen and an anonymous donor have each already contributed $5,000, which is considered a Grandslam Donation, toward this end. Other media outlets report that Sheen has donated $10,000.

"
Our boys are definitely surrounded by an incredibly supportive and loyal community! As always, GO VIKINGS!
" the Santa Monica Diamond Club's Facebook page states.

Sheen himself posted numerous messages on his Facebook page and Twitter account in promotion of the event.
"Serious about Samohi Baseball thank 2 ALL for coming out! hung out with my best pal @tonytodd32 & Coach Sheldon last night!!" he tweeted on November 20.

According to IMDb, Sheen's lifetime record as a pitcher was 40-15.
