Three Jewelry Store Robbers Arrested
Posted by Shine Huang on Apr 16, 2013 - 11:45:38 AM

SANTA MONICAThree men broke into Tala Jewelry on Montana Ave at around 4:50 p.m. on Sunday, April 14.

The Santa Monica Police Department responded right after the robbery occurred. When police arrived on the scene, officers learned that three African-American suspects, were armed with at least one handgun. The suspects stole an undetermined amount of jewelry. The store owner was the only one present at the time the robbery happened, and he was not injured.

Officers conducted felony traffic stops in the area of Centinela and Delaware. The suspects abandoned the vehicle in the 3300 block of Centinela and ran into various directions on foot.

At about 6:30 p.m., officers located and took the first suspect into custody from a garage he was hiding in on the 2000 block of Centinela. One hour later, a second suspect surrendered to officers in the same area.

On April 15, at approximately 6:25 a.m., SMPD received a 911 call from a resident on the 1900 block of Warwick indicating they spotted someone who looked like the third suspect involved in the robbery. Officers responded immediately and arrested the third suspect inside a McDonald’s restroom.
