Bristol Farms' upscale grocery store has grown in size since its start in Rolling Hills Estates in 1982.  The company went through a bumpy start after being previously owned by Albertsons in 2004, and by SuperValu in 2006.  In 2010, SuperValu sold Bristol Farms to a privately owned company, Endeavor Capital, and now Bristol Farms is gaining in expansion and customers.

The chain currently operates 14 stores, with 12 in Southern California alone.  The new Santa Monica location is at 3105 Wilshire Blvd.

The new location opened on Wednesday, August 21. Some of the key features consist of a Starbucks, lavish produce section with assorted fruits and vegetables, a fresh seafood assortment, a juice bar, chocolate bar, sushi bar, cheese, wine and deli specialties and a wide assortment olive bar priced at $10.49 per pound of the best quality olives.

Bristol Farms states on their website, "Our Santa Monica store will feature an all new décor package that celebrates and highlights the spirit and passion of the Santa Monica community in a fun and exciting manner."  They will present an emphasis on health and high-quality foods in order to meet the everyday needs of their customers.
