SHERMAN OAKS—A $50,000 reward is to be offered for anyone with information that leads to an arrest in the June 29 murder of Raul Lopez.
Lopez, who was a cook at the Hoagies and Wings at 14552 Ventura Boulevard, was at the restaurant the night of the incident.
Detectives said that five suspects entered the restaurants and proceeded to call Lopez a serious of derogatory names and threw a chair at him. Lopez used the chair to back the suspects out of the restaurant before one of them drew a gun and shot him in the chest.
He died of his injuries at a local hospital later that evening.
Suspects fled the location in a black SUV, but detectives obtained the following information from security camera footage.
All are African-American men.
The first is described as being 6-feet, weighing 180 pounds with an athletic build and in his early 30s.
The second is 30 to 35 years old at around 6 foot 2, 300 pounds with long dreadlocks in a pony tail.
A third suspect is described as 6 foot 4, 350 pounds with a shaved head, gold teeth and in his late 30s.
A fourth is 6 feet 5, between 350-400 pounds with shoulder-length hair and in his mid-30s.
Lastly, the fifth and final suspect is described as 6 foot 4, 300-350 pounds and in his mid-30s.
Two of the men were captured on camera while the others were described from witness on the scene.
The official announcement with more details on the reward will be held at a press conference Tuedsay July 24, at the scene of the crime.
Lopez leaves behind five children between the ages of 2 and 15 years of age. He was 38.
