The suspect, 58-year-old Michael Steven Poret, allegedly smashed a series of windows in mostly the area along Ventura Blvd., between Haskell Ave. and Balboa Ave., apparently extending the alleged crimes into Sherman Oaks and Woodland Hills. Police suspect that the alleged vandalism occurred during hours of darkness, such as early morning or late evening.
While conducting a search at Poret's home in Encino, officers seized items believed to be used in the incidents, including B.B. guns, slingshots, firearms and marbles.
Poret was arrested and booked for felony vandalism and taken into custody at Van Nuys Jail on $60,000 bail; no additional information about why the man allegedly committed the crimes is available as of press time.
