Burglars Target Ventura Blvd In Sherman Oaks

SHERMAN OAKS—Authorities are searching for thieves who are allegedly targeting stores on Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks.

The latest incident occurred on Sunday, March 3 at 4:30 a.m. when a suspect used a brick to break the glass door of a T.J. Maxx. The burglar managed to steal several women's purses before fleeing the scene in a matter of seconds. The incident was caught on the store's surveillance camera.
Another store's surveillance camera caught a suspect stealing merchandise before the TJ Maxx burglary and is located about a half mile away from the clothing store. The suspect broke the AT&T store's glass door before stealing several phones.
Police stated there have been seven crimes since February 19 on Ventura Boulevard between Woodman Avenue and Sepulveda. They have reportedly happened in the early morning hours.
It is believed that two suspects were involved in the crimes. One suspect is described as about 25 to 30 years old, five-foot-ten to six feet tall and weighs about 170 pounds. The second suspect is about 20 to 25 years old, five-foot-eight feet tall and about 150 pounds. Authorities reported that they may have been driving a light-colored compact car when leaving the scenes of the crimes.
Authorities indicated there were also various cases of vandalism near the stores that were burglarized. It is unclear whether the crimes are related. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Van Nuys Burglary Detectives at (818) 374-0028 or (818) 374-0031.
