SHERMAN OAKS
—Los Angeles Police Department detectives are seeking five men for questioning in the shooting death of a cook at Hoagies and Wings on Friday, June 29.

Reports indicate Raul Lopez, 38, got into an argument with customers at the restaurant located at 14552 Ventura Blvd.  Detectives say someone called Lopez derogatory names and threw a chair at him.  Lopez proceeded to pick up the chair and attempted to get the five men in the group out of the restaurant.

After the men walked outside, Lopez put down the chair.  One of the men proceeded to pull out a gun and shoot Lopez in the chest.  He was transported to a local hospital where he died a short time after.

Descriptions of the five suspects, who are all African-American, have been released by police. The first is described as 6 feet, weighing 180 pounds with an athletic build and in his early 30s.  Another is described as 6 feet 2, 300 pounds with long dreadlocks in pony tail and is 30 to 35 years old.  In addition, another suspect is described as 6 feet 4, weighing 350 pounds with a shaved head, gold teeth and in his late 30s.  Additionally, another suspect is 6 feet 5, 350-400 pounds with shoulder-length hair and in his mid-30s. The fifth and final suspect is described as 6 feet 4, weighing 300-350 pounds and in his mid-30s.

Surveillance video of two of the suspects who are considered “persons of interest” has been released to the public.

On Tuesday, July 3, Lopez's family was in tears at a news conference, pleading for justice for the death of their father Raul Lopez.

"He was a very responsible man, he loved his family, I want justice" stated Melesio Lopez, Lopez's oldest son.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact LAPD Homicide Detectives at (818) 374-0040.
