Joe Simpson, 54, was arrested on the evening of August 4 after he was pulled over at approximately 10 p.m. on Ventura Boulevard at a sobriety checkpoint. Simpson was stopped a few blocks from the restaurant where he had dinner with his wife that night. Reportedly, he had a couple glasses of wine during dinner and took a breathalyzer test voluntarily at the checkpoint. He registered an 0.12 blood-alcohol level, well above the state’s 0.08 limit.
Simpson, an Encino native, spent the night at LAPD’s Valley Jail in Van Nuys after being arrested and was released the following morning, August 5, at about 9:41 a.m.
If convicted on the charges, Simpson faces up to six months in jail, a $1,000 fine, and 36 months of probation according to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office. His arraignment is scheduled for August 30 in Van Nuys.
