SHERMAN OAKS—A Studio 6 hotel in Van Nuys was evacuated Monday, June 3 after police discovered a “suspicious” device inside during a narcotics investigation.

According to Sergeant S. Gottschalk of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys Station, the hotel, which is located in the 13500 block of Sherman Way, was evacuated at approximately 10:30 p.m., when a device much resembling a pipe bomb was discovered inside a room safe.

A bomb squad arrived on scene shortly after to remove the device, which ended up being no threat, according Gottschalk.

Two men and one woman were arrested in connection to the initial narcotics investigation, he said. And according to police, hotel guests were allowed to return to their rooms around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
