Sepulveda Traffic To Be Reconfigured
Posted by Damian Kelly on May 16, 2012 - 1:53:28 PM

SHERMAN OAKS—Residents and businesses in Sherman Oaks are being asked to seek alternative routes through the city this weekend as crews continue to work on widening the I-405 freeway overpass at Sepulveda Blvd near Fiume Walk.

According to a Metro news release on Tuesday, May 15, traffic reconfiguration that will help create a work zone for the widening of the 405 Freeway overpass will begin Saturday, May 19, at 9 p.m. and conclude on Sunday, May 20, at noon.  According to the construction notice, Sepulveda Blvd. will be reduced to one lane in each direction during the reconfiguration. K-rail will be placed around the construction zone and lanes will be restriped.

The traffic reconfiguration is expected to last for one year and will cause long term changes in traffic. Among them will be left turns onto northbound Sepulveda Blvd. from Fiume Walk and the southbound Valley Vista off-ramp will be restricted. Meanwhile, motorists attempting to access northbound Sepulveda Blvd. will encounter a detour that will take them to the southbound Burbank Blvd. off-ramp.

In addition, left turns from northbound Sepulveda Blvd. onto Fiume Walk are expected to be restricted. The left-turn pocket of Sepulveda Blvd. onto the southbound Valley Vista on-ramp will be shortened while a crosswalk across Sepulveda Blvd. at Fiume Walk will be eliminated.

After the traffic reconfiguration, residents should expect Sepulveda Blvd. to have two lanes of traffic in each direction.  They should also know that the Valley Vista on-and-off ramps are expected to be closed during the construction work hours.
