The failed Van Nuys burglary took place at about 2:15pm in the 14200 block of Gault Street when two male African Americans about 5’8”, weighing 150lbs, in their 20’s and seen wearing blue jackets and jeans knocked on the residents door at the home. When the resident didn’t answer the door, the two suspects proceeded to the back yard and attempted to break in to the residence. Before they could, police and family were contacted and the men fled the scene.
A few days later, the Sherman Oaks burglary took place sometime between the hours of 5:30pm and 11:30pm in the 3300 block of Woodcliff Road. According to police, the suspect (s) entered the back yard of the residence through an unlocked gate and then smashed a rear glass door. The home’s alarm was disabled and the suspect (s) proceeded to steal property and left through the victim’s front door. Large amounts of currency, surveillance equipment and several tuxedos were taken during the burglary.
In light of the recent events, the police are asking that the public not drop their guard and remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings at all times. Police also ask that residents keep an eye on their properties as well as those that belong to neighbors and friends.
