Panera Bread Offers Free Bread

SHERMAN OAKS—On Tuesday, May 28, marked the opening of a Panera Bread chain franchise along Ventura Boulevard by giving the first 100 guests a gift certificate for free bread for the whole year. 

 

Sarah Nazarian Phelps, who helped organize the event, spoke about the excitement.  Sherman Oaks proves to be a great new location as Phelps describes the restaurant as getting, “great community visits.”  The first 100 guests in line were given a certificate to receive on a loaf of bread for each month of the year.  It’s Panera Bread’s way of giving back to the faithful community. 

 

Panera Bread prides itself in having hand-crafted artesian-bread made by professional bakers on site and they also serve anti-biotic free chicken.  According to Panera Bread, “Panera’s bakery-cafe selection offers flavorful, wholesome offerings such as sandwiches, hand tossed salads, soups served in bread bowls, bagels and pastries. The menu includes a variety of year-round favorites to complement seasonal items and breads baked fresh daily in each bakery-cafe by skilled bakers.”

Jacob Bustos, the district manager in Panera Bread’s new location deemed the event as a “success.”  When speaking with Canyon News he said, “We certainly depleted the first 100 certificates.  Overall we had a great turn out.” 

 

The restaurant is located in the village of Sherman Oaks it gets “lots of business,” says Bustos.  “There are many businesses around that can just walk into the café,” he says, “It limits having to drive somewhere to eat and we get a lot of foot-traffic.” 

 

Prior to the opening, the Sherman Oaks Panera Bread hired provided 45 more jobs.  “We started hiring about a month ago,” says Bustos.  “In this economy it’s great to be able to provide more jobs.” 

 

With a close location to businesses, bakers on site and free wireless Internet, the Sherman Oaks Panera Bread is off to a good start. 

 

Overall, Bustos stated, “We are very excited to be in the Sherman Oaks area.  I think they needed someone like us.”

 

Jun 24, 2013 will feature the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the Sherman Oaks Panera Bread location. Regular store hours are Monday-Thursday, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The phone number is 818-905-6060.
