SHERMAN OAKS–Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to reports of shots fired on Sunday, December 11. Around 2:15 A.M., officers arrived in the 13500 block of Rye Street. The suspect, found carrying a gun and marijuana, was arrested and booked under “suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon,” according to Sgt. Don Muniz from the Van Nuys LAPD station. It does not appear that anyone was shot during the incident as no victims have come forward. The crime is still under investigation, though the police speculate the shooting may have been marijuana-related. The 13500 block has seen relatively regular instances of crime, including grand theft auto last August and a theft from a vehicle last March. Another shooting, though unrelated, occurred in Hollywood last Friday. Tyler Brehm, 26, opened fire in the intersection of Sunset Blvd and Vine St, injuring three bystanders before being shot and killed by police. The incident may have been triggered by a breakup with his former girlfriend, according to reports. After firing dozens of rounds in the air and more at cars passing by, Brehm allegedly pulled out a knife and beckoned officers to end the standoff, shouting “Kill me” multiple times. John Atterberry, a well known music executive living in Los Angeles, died Monday after being shot three times by Brehm. Atterberry worked with artists such as the Spice Girls and Michael Jackson, and at one point was the Vice President of Death Row Records. Brehm’s Facebook page has since been deleted, though his Twitter remains viewable.
