SHERMAN OAKS—Seventeen-year-old high school senior Jake Davidson posted a brief video on YouTube asking model Kate Upton if she will go to prom with him. The video itself spans one minute and forty-six seconds and has had over one million views since it was posted on Saturday, March 16th. The video consists of Davidson in a series of different situations, including lying with his dog by the pool, shaving, and doing push-ups as he gives several reasons why Kate Upton should go to prom with him. At one point, he playfully asks Upton if he can call her “Katie.”
The video ends with Davidson holding a bouquet of flowers, going on one knee, and asking, “So, Kate, will you go to prom with me?” Upon seeing the video, Upton took to her twitter account and responded to Davidson’s request, saying, “You can call me Katie if you want! How could I turn down that video! I'll check my schedule ;)”
Davidson appeared on the Today Show on Thursday, March 19th to talk about his video and the reaction he received from Upton via twitter. The seventeen-year-old was shocked when the hosts announced Kate Upton was on the phone and upon hearing her greeting, Davidson nervously responded, “This just got so much better now that you’re on the phone.”
Upton went on to say that Davidson’s video was “so hilarious and so creative” and that if everything worked out with her schedule she would love to go to prom with him and that they “would have a blast.”
Davidson’s prom takes place on May 23rd and he anxiously awaits Upton’s official acceptance.
