WOODLAND HILLS—A trailer truck collision critically injured two women on Monday, June 24.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. near Victory Boulevard when a black Mercedes-Benz rear ended a trailer truck en route with tires, said Los Angeles Fire Department Spokesman Brian Humphrey. The impact of the collision was severe enough to hospitalize both women with critical injuries.

“Fire Department personnel used hydraulic prying tools to rescue the women,” said Humphrey. The car was significantly crushed, trapping both women.

A 35-year old woman was sent to Northridge Hospital Medical Center while her 50 year-old companion arrived at Providence Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills. One of the women later passed away, Humphrey indicated.
