A married couple in their early 50s and 60s were found dead in their home in Sherman Oaks on Friday, April 18, in what appears to be a murder-suicide. Both the man and the woman died from gunshot wounds.

Last Friday night, on April 4, two victims were seriously injured in a shooting that occurred on Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks. The shooting occurred during a proposed “40 hour moratorium” on violence.

A 6-year-old boy's foot was stuck in a Sherman Oaks Mall escalator base. Los Angeles Department Firefighters were called in to free the trapped boy who was then taken to a nearby hospital.

An apartment fire on Dickens Street in Sherman Oaks claimed the life of an elderly man and injured two others on Sunday, December 9, 2007. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the scene and was able to quickly put out the fire. A woman was treated for smoke inhalation and a child was treated by paramedics for asthma complications from the smoke.
