STUDIO CITY—On Wednesday, July 27, the LAPD North Hollywood Community Police Station released details about a rape incident that took place last week so as to ask for the public's help in identifying a man suspected of committing the crime.
Police have in addition released a sketch of the man in question who they maintain raped a woman on July 19 at about 11 p.m. in an alley behind the 12000 block of Ventura Boulevard between Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Radford Avenue. Ten stores including Artisan Cheese Gallery and Dupars line each side of this through street.
In the alley, the man allegedly approached the woman from behind, put a knife to her throat and forced her down to the ground, where he began his sexual assault.
This is the seventh rape in Studio City reported by police since July 27, 2010. Four of the seven rape incidents took place on Ventura Boulevard within five miles of one another and directly west of the I-170 Hollywood Freeway, Google Maps indicates.
On July 16 at 11 p.m., police reported that a woman was raped on the 11100 block of Ventura Boulevard, which is two and a half miles away from the July 19 incident. And about a mile away, two rape incidents took place on Ventura Boulevard last January and in October 2010 at varying times, but within a block of each other.
