STUDIO CITY—“Despicable Me” will be shown on Saturday, June 22, at Studio City’s Beeman Park for the Free Summer Movies in the Park event.
The Outreach Committee of the Studio City Neighborhood Council is in partnership with NBC Universal Studios and the City of Los Angeles Department and Recreation and Parks have collaborated an event for the whole family to enjoy. On June 8, there was a showing of “Back to the Future.”

The event starts at 7:30 p.m., the movie starts at 8:00 p.m., and will end at around 10:30 p.m. The movie is free for everyone, and food, beverages and snacks will be sold. The Studio City Neighborhood Council encourages people to bring along blankets, friends and family for a night of entertainment. “Despicable Me” did well at the box office grossing $56.6 million in its first week back in 2010, making it the third biggest grossing film for an animated feature after “Toy Story 3” and “Shrek Forever After.” The movie went on to be nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature and won a Kids Choice Award for Favorite Animated Move and a Women’s Film Critics Circle for Best Animated Females.
“Despicable Me 2” will be released on June 28 in the
UK and July 3 in the
U.S. It is a highly anticipated film for the summer. They have added to their comedic cast that heightens the excitement. “Despicable Me 2” joins the voices of Carell and Cosgrove with Ken Jeong (“The Hangover Part III”), Kristen Wiig (“Bridesmaids”), Russell Brand (“Hop”), Benjamin Bratt (“Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”) and Steve Coogan (“Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa”). Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud will once again helm directing duties.
