Posted by Chet Kincaid on Sep 2, 2013 - 6:47:59 PM

STUDIO CITY—On Monday, September 9, "Extra," the second longest running entertainment news show in syndication, will return for its 20th season. The show, which called ”˜The Grove’ its home in past seasons, will start the new season at a new home at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Hosted by Mario Lopez and Maria Menounos in front of a live audience, the "Extra" experience will take viewers throughout various locations in Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk.

"We are thrilled to partner with Universal Studios Hollywood which symbolizes everything ”˜Extra’ is about. It's a place people go to be a part of the Hollywood experience and that's what we do on ”˜Extra,’ we give our audience a chance to mingle with celebrities and be part of a daily event," said "Extra" Senior Executive Producer Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey.

Anyone visiting the Universal theme park or regular fans will have the chance to view the shooting of the show Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. During this time, spectators will get the chance to interact with the hosts by asking questions, getting autographs and posing for pictures.

"Extra" will introduce a new signature franchise, "Ride the Headlines," where each member of the "Extra" team will try to top one another with a better gossip item. Returning segments include "Now Trending," "The A-List Interview," "Extra, Extra," "Beauty by the Numbers" and a revamped "Friends with Benefits."

"As the broadcast headquarters for this very exciting venture with ”˜Extra,’ we are thrilled about the unimaginable opportunities that our guests will have when they visit us and know there’s a chance they too can ”˜rub elbows’ with Hollywood’s A-List," said Larry Kurzweil, President of Universal Studios Hollywood and CityWalk.

Season 20 will kick off with celebrity guests including Hugh Jackman, Vin Diesel, Eva Longoria, Jack Black, Sofia Vergara, Ariana Grande and more.
