STUDIO CITY—The popular taco stand located in Studio City has reopened its doors after being out of business for over two months. Henry’s Tacos first opened its doors in 1961 with Henry Comstock as the owner and it had been located on the corner of Moorpark and Tujunga Street.
The family-owned business, which had most recently been owned by Comstock’s heir Janis Hood, was taken down in January of this year to be replaced by another Mexican restaurant after Hood had decided to retire.
Last Thursday, April 4, the taco stand once again opened its doors just across the street from where it was previously established. Henry’s Tacos is now being co-owned by Omar Vega, who had been the head chef at the original taco stand for over 20 years, and his brother.
According to employees and patrons alike, the taco stand is the exact same as it has been for 50 years, just in a slightly different location and it has been spruced up a bit. The new owners have reportedly replaced the original signage, worn-out picnic tables and rusty menus with new and improved ones. Henry’s Tacos is now located at 4389 Tujunga Avenue in Studio City.
