LAPD Motorcycle Officer Injured In Collision

STUDIO CITY—A Los Angeles Police Department motorcycle officer was injured in a collision on Tuesday, March 19 in Studio City while en route to investigate an accident.

The incident occurred at around 5:15 p.m. one block north of Fryman Place at 3356 Laurel Canyon Boulevard. The officer was struck by a driver in a blue Sedan who was stuck in traffic and made a U-turn in front of the officer. The officer was taken to the hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
It is unclear the cause of the accident to which the officer was responding. Two motorists were taken to the hospital from the scene of the original crash, a half mile away from the collision with the officer. Their conditions were not available.
Police closed Laurel Canyon in both directions between Mulholland and Ventura Boulevard while motorists were directed to use Coldwater Canyon Boulevard.
The roadway connecting the San Fernando Valley to Hollywood and West Hollywood was opened at around 6:45 p.m. after being closed for almost two hours.
