A judge granted Ammar Harris's request for an identification hearing before any decision is made to extradite him to Las Vegas. Nevada authorities will attend the identification hearing on March 14 to ID the suspect. In the meantime, Harris will remain in a Los Angeles jail for a minimum of ten more days. He is currently being held without bail.

The 26-year-old was arrested at at the Archview Apartments in Studio City on Thursday, February 28 where he was staying with a female resident and friend.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police stated Harris is a self-proclaimed pimp who shot and killed 27-year-old rapper Kenneth Cherry while driving on Las Vegas Boulevard on February 21. Harris was driving a black Range Rover at approximately 4:15 a.m. when he pulled up to Cherry's Maserati. Cherry allegedly rolled down his window and the two had a short exchange which ended when the traffic light turned green.

A few minutes later, Harris opened fire twice at Cherry who received wounds to his chest and arm. The vehicle then crashed into a taxi which exploded and killed the 62-year-old male cab driver, Michael Boldon, and female passenger Sandra Suttion-Wasmund. Cherry was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Five others were injured due to the shootout and crash. Police have stated that an argument at a casino between Harris and Cherry ignited the incident. Harris was not alone in the Range Rover at the time of the shootout as he was accompanied by his alleged girlfriend, Yenesis Alfonso, as well as two others. Authorities stated the passengers are not considered suspects and will not face charges.

Harris was identified by authorities on Saturday, March 2 at which time his vehicle was reportedly impounded. Police stated Harris was armed and dangerous with a violent criminal history.

The suspect has 11 charges including three counts of murder, firing at a vehicle, firing from a vehicle and attempted murder. The local district attorney stated the information obtained in the investigation will be used to decide whether or not to seek the death penalty for Harris.
