HOLLYWOOD HILLS—On November 18, a man drove his vehicle over a high cliff and crashed at least 200 feet down, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The incident occurred at around 2:00 a.m. The motorist had been traveling in the Hollywood Hills area, on the outskirts of Studio City, where he drove over the steep precipice at the location near 7722 Mulholland Drive, according to L.A.F.D.’s Facebook website.

The exact cause of the fall remains unknown.

It was reported that the man received only minor injuries and was able to contact 911 after the incident. He was later located and rescued by arriving L.A.F.D. officials.  Rescue teams hoisted the man up the cliff manually with specialized equipment, then helicopter crews were able to airlift him to safety. 

The fall victim, whose identification information has not been released, was transported to the Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills for treatment of his injuries.  No further information regarding the man or the incident is available as of press time.
