STUDIO CITY—On September 13, Lamar Odom was charged with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence following his arrest on August 30, according to the City Attorney’s office.
According to a California Highway Patrol (CHP) report, Odom was arrested around 3:54 a.m. because he was “driving in a serpentine manner, weaving all over the place in and out of lanes going 50 miles an hour in a 65 mile zone” in his white Mercedes SUV during Labor Day weekend. The incident took place on the 101 Freeway.
When CHP attempted to pull him over, Odom kept driving eastbound, passing Van Nuys Boulevard and Woodman Avenue, eventually exiting at Coldwater Canyon Boulevard, according to CHP.
“[He]showed objective signs of driving under the influence and was unable to perform the field sobriety tests the officer asked for,” according to CHP.
The California Highway Patrol said Odom refused to take a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) test, which starts with the penalty of a one-year driver’s license suspension and a fine of $125 in California.
The 33-year-old is married to reality star Khloe Kardashian and has played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks. He is now a free agent.
Odom faces a maximum six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if found guilty. His arraignment is scheduled for September 27 in Van Nuys, California at 8:30 a.m.
