Studio City's "A Night Out Against Crime"
Posted by Camille Sarabia on Aug 1, 2013 - 8:33:11 AM

STUDIO CITY—August 6 marks the nationwide 30th anniversary of “A Night Out Against Crime” to support heightened crime and drug prevention awareness.

National Night Out in Pasadena, CA.
Starting in 1984, this event gathers cities across the country, who join to promote crime prevention programs and are activists in keeping their cities safe. National Night Out is part of the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), a non-profit that supports “various crime prevention programs including neighborhood watch groups, law enforcement agencies, state and regional crime prevention associations, businesses, civic groups, and individuals, devoted to safer communities,” as stated on their website. When the programs started, they were still the same as they are today: lowering crime, building a community and sending a message to criminals letting them know that the community is organized and will fight back. National Night Out is an awareness event not only to join the community with purpose, but to prove that there is nothing to be afraid of.

The night will commence with fun family activities at Studio City’s PINZ Family Bowling Center. It provides the public to celebrate with their community leaders, civic groups and business vendors. The “A Night Out Against Crime” event also includes: live entertainment, arts, crafts and games for children, food tasting booths and martial art demonstrations.

Currently National Night Out is involved with 37 million people in 15,000 communities within the US, Canada, and military bases worldwide. It is the first “A Night Out Against Crime” event in Studio City, organized by the Studio City Neighborhood Council.

This event is free of admission and anyone in the area is welcome to join.  The event starts from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It will take place at 12655 Ventura Blvd. Studio City, CA.
