High School On Lockdown After Gun Sighting

CANYON—On Tuesday, May 28, a report of a man with a shotgun was made at
approximately 9:40 a.m. prompting a full lockdown of a private high school
campus in West Hills.
sighting was made by a parent in the 7500 block of Chaminade Avenue.
Catholic school released the following statement on its website immediately
following the alleged gun sighting: “Chaminade High School Campus is currently
on lockdown. Faculty and Staff are following all safety procedures and all
students and staff are reported to be safe. We will provide more information as
soon as possible. Please do not call the school and stay away from the campus
until further notice.”
In a news
conference later that day, Vice Principal of Academics Gregory Klee informed
the public that the school was locked down within five minutes.
Angeles Police Department’s Topanga Division resolved the situation after
learning that a student carrying a tripod was mistaken as a man with a shotgun.
