Mentally Disabled Woman Goes Missing

TOPANGA CANYON—The Los Angele Police Department is asking the public’s help in locating 20-year-old Shantell Patricia Chavez-Hardy. She was last seen around midnight on May 1 at her home on the 22300 block of Welby Way in Topanga.


Hardy is described as a Black female with hazel eyes and brown hair. She stands a little over 5 feet tall and weighs approximately 120 pounds.  Hardy’s family is concerned for her safety as she suffers from a mental disorder in which she has the mental capacity of a 10-year-old child.


Hardy was wearing lime-green pajama pants and a white T-shirt the night she went missing. Her family and friends have not seen or heard from her since.


If anyone has information that can lead to Hardy’s whereabouts, they should contact Detective Cletus Carlton with the LAPD Missing Persons Unit, at 213-996-1800. Anyone who does not wish to divulge their name should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
