New Commanding Officer For Topanga Division

TOPANGA CANYON—Captain Joel Justice has been named the new Commanding Officer for LAPD’s Topanga Division, which covers Canoga Park, West Hills, Winnetka and Woodland Hills.
Justice joined the Topanga Division after serving in the Communications Division, according to Councilman Mitch Englander’s newsletter announcing the new Commanding Officer.

According to his bio on the LAPD website, Justice is a second-generation officer, following in the steps of his father Hal Justice, who retired as a Captain in 1982.
In addition to working in the Communications Division, Justice has also worked in the Office of Operations, Use of Force Review Section, Internal Affairs and done patrol for the Southwest, Rampart and Foothill divisions.
Harry Sherman, a resident of Topanga Canyon, tweeted the following on July 18 after learning of Captain Justice’s new position: “The new Commanding Officer of my town’s local police station is named ”˜Captain Joel Justice’. How cool is that? @LAPDTopanga.”
Sam Hunter Jr. left a similar comment on the Topanga Division’s Facebook page: “That’s his real name? I feel safer already.”
Captain Justice was at the L.A. Fitness and Starbucks at Canoga Avenue and Victory Boulevard on July 24 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. to meet with the community, according to a notification sent out by the Topanga Division.
