WEST HOLLYWOOD
—Bikes and Hikes LA will be sponsoring the AIDS Day Ride and Candlelight Vigil on Saturday, December 1 from 1-7 p.m. The event will start and end at the sponsor’s business location on 8743 Santa Monica Blvd. The founder of Bikes and Hikes LA would like individuals who are contemplating about the event to rent a bike and a helmet free of charge.

Another co-sponsor of the event is the city of West Hollywood and Shifting Gears, which is involved with the AIDS/LifeCycle awareness movement helping the San Francisco AIDS Foundation as well as the HIV/AIDS services at the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center.

The plan for the 32-mile ride is for everyone to gather at 1 p.m., and start biking at 1:30 p.m. The riders will bike to Ballona Creek, going back to the start point in Marina del Rey. There are two categories to ride available, one slow and another medium (8-12 mph). The candlelight vigil will occur from the Bikes and Hikes LA location to West Hollywood Park at 5 p.m.

Free parking in West Hollywood Park Municipal Parking Structure (5-story) is available for the first 100 cars. It is located on 625 N. San Vicente ( South Lot).
