Apartment Complex Allegedly Vermin-Infested
Posted by Ivetta Babadjanian on Nov 13, 2012 - 8:27:21 PM

WEST HOLLYWOOD—Residents have claimed that Los Angeles' largest apartment complex, Park La Brea, has been infested with bed bugs, rats, roaches and other vermin for years.

The apartment complex is made up of several 12-story buildings and has more than 4,000 apartment units. "Park La Brea's 160 park-like acres offer a tranquil retreat at the center of Los Angeles, with the city's best shopping, dining and activities," states Park La Brea's official website.

Various residents have stated it is an ongoing problem as fumigation and exterminators were unable to rid the problem. However, they find themselves unable to move out as they signed strict 12 to 14 month leases that renew automatically.

One resident went as far as posting flyers up in several buildings asking anyone who suffered from such a problem to gather for a meeting. Many responded to the flyer and the group is now considering a class-action lawsuit. The Los Angeles County Health Department is currently investigating the case.
