WEST HOLLYWOOD—Fans of beer and/or wine rejoiced recently when the West Hollywood Planning Commission approved plans for a beer and wine tasting bar.

The commission voted 6-0 in favor of approving a conditional use permit for V, which will be located at 903 Westbourne Drive.  The business will occupy the former home of the West Hollywood Library.

During the meeting, Commissioner Marc Yeber said he was excited by the business and thought it would be a good fit for the city, but warned that it could be a parking hazard.

Yeber also reminded the commissioners that they all were excited about the first Pinkberry when it came before them in 2004. That first Pinkberry store on Huntley Drive caused many parking nightmares for residents as patrons dashed in to get frozen yogurt.

According to reports, the bar will offer customers’ tastings of a rotating set of boutique wines from California growers as well as beers from state micro-brewers.  One-ounce samples of the wines or beers with a maximum of five samples per person per visit will be offered.

Those not interested in one-ounce samples can choose to get a single five-ounce glass of wine or a single 12 oz. glass of beer during their visit.  Catered food items will also be offered by V that complements the wines/beers such as cheese platters, fruit platters, nuts and chocolates.
