WEST HOLLYWOOD—The West Hollywood Sheriff's Office received a call from the Grafton Hotel at 7:12 p.m. on Sunday, May 5 reporting that four suspicious bags were found inside the lobby of the hotel.

A bomb squad was dispatched and officers closed down Sunset Boulevard between La Cienega Boulevard and Sunset Plaza for nearly three hours while the investigation was taking place. The Grafton Hotel management also evacuated 50 of their guests as a precaution.

Authorities cleared the area at around 10:30 p.m. after the bomb squad completed their search. Officers are still unaware of the individual or individuals who placed the bags in the hotel lobby.

Considering the recent Boston bombings, officers allegedly took this report very seriously and followed all the necessary steps to protect those in the surrounding areas.

There have been several bomb threats throughout the Los Angeles area in the past several weeks, including at a Hollywood Hooters and a Beverly Hills Rite Aid.
