"Bridegroom" Screening At Film Festival
Posted by Ewing Carter on Jul 12, 2013 - 1:36:12 PM

WEST HOLLYWOOD—The City of West Hollywood will host a screening of the movie “Bridegroom” at this year’s OUTFEST Los Angeles LGBT Film Festival. The screening will take place on Saturday, July 13 at 1:30 p.m. in Theatre 1 at the Director’s Guild Association, on 7920 Sunset Boulevard.

The film, directed by Linda Bloodworth Thomason, is based on a true story which describes the relationship of two men, Tom and Shane. Tragedy strikes during their relationship and following Tom’s death; his parents refuse to let Shane attend his memorial or funeral. Tom would not give in to being rejected by Shane’s family so he created a video about his relationship with Shane and uploaded it to YouTube where it gained nearly 4 million views. The film which recently won the Heineken Audience Award at the Tribeca Film festival is a statement about loss, love and courage to stand up for same-sex equality.

OUTFEST is celebrating its 29th year as an annual gay and lesbian film festival. This year’s festival will feature 220 films and videos from 22 different countries through the city. The event which is expected to have 40,000 attendees will take place until Sunday, July21.
