WEST HOLLYWOOD—At least one person was injured and nearly 12 people displaced due to an explosion that occurred at an apartment complex.

Los Angeles Fire Department

At around 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, a call was made to the Los Angeles County Fire Department after flames went up at a building on the 1200 block of Havenhurst Dr., between Norton and Fountain Avenues. According to reports, the cause of the fire was a man attempting to cook marijuana in his apartment. Allegedly, he was trying to extract THC (the active component of marijuana) while handling flammable butane gas, which sparked the fire.

Several walls were blown out, putting several renters out of a place. One person was injured, and the man who started the fire was rushed to the hospital immediately.
