WEST HOLLYWOOD—In an effort to promote public safety, the city is offering free bus rides for the New Year’s Eve holiday.

On December 16, the City of West Hollywood announced that free bus shuttles would be provided for civilians on Tuesday, December 31 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. The buses will follow the same four-mile loop that the city’s free shuttle, The PickUp, travels each weekend along Santa Monica Boulevard.

The free New Year’s shuttles will make 10 stops in each direction between Robertson Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue for a total of 20 stops and will be available in rotation roughly every 15 minutes. The shuttle stops connect to the following Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) bus lines: 105, 705, 4, 704, 217 and 218. Click hereto view the map of the bus route.

Public pay parking lots will also be available at several West Hollywood locations for people who may wish to drive, shuttle or park their car overnight.

In close proximity to the New Year’s bus loop is the Hancock Parking Structure, located at 901 Hancock Avenue, and the Kings Road Municipal Parking Structure, located at 8383 Santa Monica Boulevard. Other public pay parking options are the Pacific Design Center, located at 8687 Melrose Avenue, and the five-story parking lot at the West Hollywood Library, located at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard.

The city would like to remind anyone celebrating the holiday to be safe and not drink and drive. Residents that may be drinking can start their New Year right by choosing to use the New Year’s Eve shuttle service, call a taxi, designate a sober driver or use other modes of public transportation.
