Posted by Damian Kelly on Jul 25, 2012 - 10:59:29 PM

WEST HOLLYWOOD—Police are on the search for a gunman who opened fire on three people in Plummer Park on Sunday, July 22, injuring one man.

Multiple reports indicate that Sgt. Dave Valentine of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s West Hollywood station reported that deputies on patrol in the area heard shots on the Fuller Avenue side of the park located at 7377 Santa Monica Blvd at approximately 11:35pm.

Valentine added that the targets of the attack ran toward deputies and told them they didn’t know their attacker.  The 26-year-old man who was injured was struck by a bullet that entered his buttocks and lodged itself in his abdomen.

The victim was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for surgery and was listed in serious condition.

The three victims, who are transients, described the gunman as a heavy-set white male.  Detectives searching the area and its surroundings found no suspect but did find small caliber shell casings.

As detectives continue to conduct their investigation, anyone with information on this crime is encouraged to contact Detective Michael Berbiar at (310) 855-8850.  Those wishing to remain anonymous may call LA Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477 or you may text the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637) or visit www.lacrimestoppers.org.
