Posted by Damian Kelly on May 16, 2012 - 1:41:23 PM

WEST HOLLYWOOD—On Sunday, May 13, West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station deputies discovered a large quantity of money and bundles of marijuana while rescuing a dog from a hot car.

According to a Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department news release, it all started at around 1:30 p.m. in the afternoon when deputies arrived to the 1200 block of North Ogden Drive after responding to a service call to check on the welfare of a dog that was locked inside of a vehicle.  Deputies opted to rescue the dog, later identified as a German Pointer, due to the rising temperatures in the area.

As deputies attempted to identify the animal’s owner, a bag was located inside the vehicle that contained several bundles of sealed marijuana. Upon searching the vehicle, a large amount of money also was discovered.

An investigation conducted by detectives from the LASD Narcotics Bureau estimated the money to be over $10,000 and the street value of the drugs was estimated at $24,000. The vehicle, which was impounded for evidence, was identified as a red 1993 Nissan Pathfinder with Arizona license plates.
