New Parking Structure Coming To The City
Posted by Alex Nochez on Mar 19, 2014 - 9:15:24 PM

WEST HOLLYWOODThe City Hall's surface parking lot was closed on March 14 to pave the way for the city's under-construction automated garage.

The parking lot, located at 8300 Santa Monica Boulevard, was closed so that contractors can demolish the lot for the project, which is expected to be completed by summer or fall 2015, according to a news release from the city.

A new parking garage is set to be built in the city.

To alleviate potential problems, the city has relocated visitor parking for City Hall to the Kings Road Municipal Parking Structure at 8383 Santa Monica Boulevard, which the city boasts is a five minute walk away from City Hall.

For those who need assistance, a shuttle service named City Hall Link has been instituted that will help residents get to and from City Hall should they require it. The shuttle will drop passengers off on the ground level of the Kings Road Structure right by its handicapped-accessible parking spaces.  On the City Hall side, residents will be dropped off and picked up on the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Sweetzer Avenue next to Joey's Cafe.

The Automated Garage and Community Plaza Project aims to build a new 200-space, 7,000 square foot automated parking structure, which reportedly will cost around $16 million.  Starting on Monday, March 24, residents should expect daytime closures on Sweetzer Avenue next to City Hall during a two week-long period.

For more information about the project, residents can call 323-848-6400 or visit www.weho.org/automatedgarage.
