A 1989 Volkswagen Fox sitting in the apartment’s parking space was removed by a tow truck to help detectives determine whether the man was a resident of the apartment.  large paper bags thought to be filled with evidence were also removed from the apartment located at 7654 Fountain Avenue.

The investigation resulted in stopped eastbound traffic on Fountain from Curson at around 4:15 p.m. The backup could be traced all the way to Fairfax Avenue.

This is the second case in the last few months in which a badly decomposed body has been discovered long after the person’s death.

On June 9, the body of Steven John Simmons was discovered in a Cadillac SUV at the corner of Willoughby and Genesee Avenues. An investigation revealed the Cadillac belonged to Jacob Anthonisen, the step-brother of Simmons. Anthonisen has been missing since the estimated time of Simmons’ death around May 27-29. Simmons and Anthonisen had previously served time for felonies.
